I finished this top last night. I like the style with the mock wrap to the side. It's one of those things that's easy to wear with jeans or dressed up with a skirt. My kind of top. I like things that I can wear on multiple occasions. I might do this in a print at some point, just to make it a little more interesting. And maybe next time I 'll make it with long sleeves. I used a cotton knit I had because I really am trying to use up some of the stash I have. I know I've said that before, but maybe if I keep saying it, it will actually happen. I cleaned up my sewing area earlier this week and I have another bin with fabric. That makes about 7 bins of varying sizes with fabric. So, I need to work through what I've got.

Right now I'm working on this top from Butterick (5420). It's view A with the short sleeves. The material is a cotton knit I bought from Fabric.com a while ago. I'm really trying to work through some of the stash of fabric that I have. So, I've been matching new patterns with some of the fabric that I already have in hopes that I can reduce the number of bins of fabric that I currently have. I have now idea about the yardage total - it's way too much to count.

I haven't sewn anything lately. We just dropped off our son at college this afternoon. Sometimes, other things take priority. But, I do have a top in the works. I realized I don't have any matching thread, so off I'll go to the fabric store tomorrow. Then maybe I'll really have something new to post (and another review to write for PR). So, I'm a little sad right now that both of my "babies" are in college, but excited for them. Maybe a little sewing is just what I need right now...

Well, last time I showed you the tunic top I finished (my mis-matched plaid). I completed the capri pants the other day. So here are the pictures of my completed outfit. This is the first time I've ever made anything that was solid white. I usually shy away from white because I'm afraid I'm going to get it dirty too quickly, but I like the look. And, since temperatures are heading up again, I figure I'll still get some use out of the summer clothes.
But now, I think I'll focus on what to do for Fall (early Fall) sewing. I bought Vogue and McCalls patterns already for the upcoming season. But now, I have to see if I can use any of the fabric I already have with some of the new patterns. I know I'll have to do some fabric shopping. But this time around, I'll try to do more pre-planning for the garments so I have things that will work well together.
