For those who love to sew, but may not have the patience for projects that take a long time to make. This is about me and how I fulfill my need for creativity. Some things work out great - others, not so much. But, I'm willing to give just about any sewing project a try.

Fall leaves
I originally bought this fabric (about 2 years ago) to make a skirt. Since that never happened, I decided to use it to make a jacket. I chose Butterick 4463. In part because I've made it before and I've always wanted to do it again, but also, the fabric requirements fit with what I had. I made View A which is the short jacket without the belt. This pattern is out of print. It's an unlined jacket with pockets which is perfect for cooler days. The material I used is a "moleskin" fabric (washable) so it's sort of like a suede material. It's thicker than cotton so the heavier weight is nice since it is unlined. I used snaps for the closures this time. I've never done that before, so I was really looking forward to giving that a try and I am very pleased with the way it worked out. The skirt I'm wearing in the pictures is the Burda 09-2010-106B. While the picture looks very Fall-like, we are having a mini-heat wave here and I couldn't wait to get the pictures taken so I could change into some cooler clothes!

Vogue 8774...again!
I must say, I really love this patten. I have gone from thinking that I would never be able to make something like jeans, to wondering why it took me so long to even try to make them. While I haven't perfected the fit just yet (there are a few tweaks I will make the next time), they are comfortable, easy to wear and actually easy to make (once you get the hang of it). I am definitely a jeans and T-shirts kind of girl for the most part, but I like to have some colors that I can't always find in ready-to-wear. So making them is the perfect solution for me. I did this latest pair in a little over a day. I made these in a size 14 with the only alteration being adding a dart to the back yoke and adding darts to the back waistband (to eliminate the gap). I think I want to try tapering up to a 16 in the thigh to the knee at least, but leaving the waist and hip at the 14. I'll have to see how that works out the next time.
